Hello everyone. I am reaching out to anyone who may have seen my sister-in-law's cat in Checotah. Yesterday, around 6 PM, my husband and SIL stopped at the Flying J to let Jazzy (Jasmine) out on a cat harness and cat leash to go to the bathroom during a long road trip back to Durant, Oklahoma (yes, they also had a carrier with potty pads, but it was a 4+ hour road trip and she's never been in the car that long). The harness was on well enough, as they took 20 minutes out of their trip to make sure it was as secure as possible. However, as soon as they brought her out of the car, something spooked her, and she fought her way out of the harness. We have never had something like this happen with any of our animals, and we are beside ourselves. They almost caught her two/three times, but each time she kept aggressively wiggling out of their grip, and running off. She ended up in the woods by the Flying J. They looked for her for two hours, and we even called Checotah police dispatch (non emergency), and three officers came to help my husband and SIL look for her, with no luck. Jazzy is from the Miami, Oklahoma shelter, and my SIL adopted her last April. This road trip was to have Jazzy come live with us, as my husband and I just gained custody over my SIL. My SIL is devastated. Jazzy is microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed (her ear is clipped). The microchip is registered to my BIL in Miami, Oklahoma. If anyone has seen her around, or can manage to catch her for us, PLEASE contact me. Jazzy is a family member, and we are distraught by her absence.
