So guys … BE VERY AWARE OF SCAMMERS if you have a lost pet posted on this site. Got a call this morning from someone who is located in Georgia, and whose phone number has almost no information available on a REVERSE PHONE LOOKUP SITE (1st clue). They told me the cat was picked up by a neighbor on a street about 200 yards from my home … they obviously found a street close to my address on google maps … but it was injured, had been hit by a vehicle … broken femur and dislocated shoulder but the cat was OK but needed surgery … $3600. Told them that was too much, but because of a CA State contract I qualified for a discount … could be done for $2000 (2nd clue) … could not tell me where the cat was because of a contractual issue with the state, but after successful surgery and after payment I would get an address to go p.u.the cat (3rd clue) … BUT I was not about to pay $2000 without some confirmation, so I called the vets in Roseville but none had a cat in for “repairs” … then I got a call from my “contact” that the surgery was successful, the cat was fine but would need several weeks of rehabilitation … I told them that I had called all the Roseville Veterinary Clinics but none had a small cat they were fixing so maybe they meant Rockin?? or Rancho?? instead of Roseville (all similar names!!) at which point they hung up and now won’t answer the phone… SO IT WAS A SCAM … I will call them later and tell them what a bunch of a******s they are.
BEWARE … THE SCAMMERS PHONE NUMBERS ARE and AND THEIR PAYMENT CODES ARE (PAYPAL) @JANEEWILLIAMS145 AND ($CASH) $MYMYDADON7. I’m filing a report with PAYPAL and $CASH …would file police report but without a location address probably not worth the effort
Well guess what. Missing kitty showed up this afternoon. Seems she's been hiding in backyard ... but now safe and inside and all back in order. Happy ending, and thanks to all for your support and encouragement
