I’m trying to locate the owner of a very distinctive orange-and-white male cat who has been staying in my area for the past few months. I’ve been calling him **Bernie** so I have something to call him, but I’m hoping someone may recognize him. He is: - Male - Orange and white - Three-legged, missing his **one of his back legs** - Ear-tipped, so he appears to have been through a TNR/neuter program at some point. - Mostly white through the face which he has a big round face and white chest, with orange tabby coloring around his face, back, and remaining legs - Currently skittish unless it's the morning and I have been feeding him in a safe spot but he is slowly becoming more trusting - Able to move around very well despite having three legs Bernie has been in the Jacksonville area since at least mid-August. I thought one of the neighbors adopted him but no one that I've talked to knows who he is. He was extremely thin when he first started appearing and seemed desperate for food. Over time he has developed a regular routine and is beginning to approach me, meow, and show signs that he has likely been handled by people before. I do not know what happened to him or how he ended up outside, but I would really like to know whether someone is missing him or knows his history. With colder nights coming, my goal is to safely get him help and make sure he has a secure place to stay. However I cannot bring him inside, since I've got 3 rescues already but I can continue to help him as much as possible while he is outside. It breaks my heart to see him so sad and alone. Plus he keeps getting chased by other owned cats in the area. I feel he may have been dumped, abandoned or maybe just lost but no one has put a notification out since I've been checking all of the sites. If you believe you know this furr baby or may know his owner, please message me with details about his markings, which leg is missing, and any identifying information so I can verify it is truly him. The photo here is the best one I was able to take but I'll try taking more. I just want this little guy to be safe, warm and with his family as he does not deserve to be in this situation. He seems to be very gentle and loving so please reach out if you know him or if he is indeed just abandoned, someone could give him a better life than he is living right now. Please share — someone may recognize this sweet little guy.
