Our missing bird is a small female Budgerigar (Budgie/Parakeet) measuring about 6 to 7 inches long with a vibrant bright yellow head, distinct small blue-purple spots on her cheeks, a bright green chest and belly, a long dark tail, and black, grey, and yellow striped patterns across her wings. She wears no collar, has no leg band, and is not microchipped. Behaviorally, she is very vocal with frequent chirping, and while she may bite out of fear if cornered or handled, she is tiny and her bite is completely harmless; she is food-motivated and can be caught if approached gently with seed or millet. Regarding the circumstances of her disappearance, she flew away exactly one week ago on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from the area of 56 Nieman Ave in Lynbrook, NY 11563 (Nassau County), leaving behind a heartbroken family and her bonded blue bird mate who is desperately missing her at home.
