URGENT: NEEDS FOSTER or ADOPTER before Jan 17, 2026. I rescued a German shepherd (Thursday) Jan 7, 2026 in elk Park/Modesto Dog Park in Modesto, Ca. He seems to have been abandoned in the dog park. There were people who said they had been feeding him for a couple days as he was sleeping there overnight. He is very playful and gentle on a leash. He was locked in the dog park and people were saying he had been playing with all the dogs there for the past couple days. When we rescued him he was locked in the “small dog” side. We saw him playing with a corgi and 2 pugs and was he was having the time of his life! He played gently with them and just ran alongside them, and hopping around. I took him to my vet to be scanned for a microchip and he did have one, but the owners number is not accepting calls and will not text back. I believe he was abandoned there. I went to the Stanislaus county animal shelter and found out his history. He was adopted from there as a puppy back in March of 2025. His name is Franky and he weighs 85 lbs. Franky is 1 year and 5 months old. Black and tan in color and German shepherd. He may be mixed, he is really tall. A little on the long lanky arm side and reminds me of scooby doo! He is incredibly sweet and a big cuddler. He deserves a chance to find a good home. I didn’t want him to end up in the shelter but I am hoping to find him a new home. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines, only needs rabies vaccine in March. I don’t have a lot of breed experience on German shepherds and would be happy to find him a foster or home with someone who knows more about the breed. He is such a loveable guy. I think he would do good in a home with other dogs or as an only pet, but no cats. He lunged at a cat in my neighborhood and wanted to boop hard at my cat through the screen door. I have 4 cats so I can not keep him. Please message me if you can foster him or are interested in adopting because I am going to have to take him to the Stanislaus county animal shelter by Jan 17th, 2026
