we took him to the shelter and found out he was a foster dog; the foster person either dumped or lost him, and didn’t return calls/emails for months. The shelter wasn’t friendly or warm, they didn’t say thank you for finding our dog or we are so sorry this happened with the foster. They were almost accusatory. The workers told us he is their legal property and insinuated we would be arrested if we left with him and didn’t turn him over. They weren’t going to offer a free or discounted adoption either. We turned him over to them because legally it was the right thing and he needed his shots and to get neutered, but he was shaking. We didn’t want him to feel betrayed and abandoned again since that’s happened at least once if not twice. Plus our 2 dogs need a companion to keep themselves busy with one another. So we adopted him so he wouldn’t be there anymore and out of the foster system that failed him. We also didn’t want his return to be a reason another dog got put down. We can’t save them all but we can make a difference for this one. Thank you to all of those who helped and gave advice on where to go with this. He’s already come out of his shell at our home and he’s much happier. so are we it was perhaps meant to be. Have a great weekend everyone
